Kia America has debuted its groundbreaking electric EV3 and EV4 concept models at the 2023 Los Angeles Auto Show, showcasing the automaker’s state-of-the-art electric platform technology and its commitment to a leading color, material, and finish (CMF) strategy. The Concept EV3 and Concept EV4 serve as embodiments of Kia’s Opposites United design philosophy and offer a glimpse into potential future products.
Stressing the importance of unveiling these concepts in Los Angeles, which is synonymous with savvy electric vehicle (EV) consumers, Steven Center, COO & EVP at Kia America stated that “The Concept EV3 and Concept EV4 are sharply styled, material-driven concepts that point to the expansion of the Kia EV lineup, and California is the barometer for successful EVs.” He also noted that unveiling these concepts in Los Angeles allowed the company to gauge the reaction to two potential opportunities within the Kia lineup.
Earlier this year, Kia introduced a range of essential components made from bioplastics sourced from plant-based origins as part of its strategy to incorporate eco-friendly materials into future models, including the Concept EV3 and Concept EV4.
The Concept EV3 envisions an electric, compact crossover that blends the technology, practicality, and design of Kia’s flagship EV, the EV9. This design philosophy is evident in the contrasting qualities of a robust body with a dynamic silhouette.
Similarly, the Concept EV4 embodies the purity of the “Power to Progress” pillar of the Opposites United design philosophy, with a focus on strong and impactful lines, representing a new type of EV sedan.
Kia’s commitment to the environment is also evident in its materials, which incorporate handwoven fabric stripes, natural dyes, and recycled cotton to enhance the interior composition of both the Concept EV3 and Concept EV4.
