A 10-year-old boy from Peppard, Oxfordshire, has launched a petition urging Apple to change its “nerd glass” emoji. According to a report by Apple Insider, Teddy believes the current emoji, often known as the “nerd emoji,” perpetuates a negative stereotype of glasses wearers and finds it “offensive and insulting.”
The young advocate has taken the initiative to redesign the emoji, showcasing thin lenses, thin frames, and a small smile, and renaming it the “genius emoji.” His campaign aims to encourage Apple to adopt his inclusive design.
Teddy’s teacher, Lisa, supports his initiative and hopes that Apple will take action. However, Apple has faced legal issues related to emojis, as it reportedly won a lawsuit in February 2022, accusing it of copying diverse emoji trademarks.
