Swami Nandan Drives Digital Transformation in the Manufacturing Industry

The manufacturing industry heavily relies on resources and automation to efficiently complete tasks. With a strong background in information technology, Swami Nandan has emerged as a leading figure in driving digital transformation across manufacturing operations.

With over 18 years of experience in the IT field, Nandan has successfully implemented various initiatives across the manufacturing value chain. His expertise lies in areas such as statistical analysis, artificial intelligence, simulation, and information security. He applies this knowledge to optimize processes related to niche-finished products, product lifecycle management, quality control, and environmental safety.

By combining his insights in these fields, Nandan has formulated a roadmap for successful digital transformation in the manufacturing industry. He takes on the role of an innovative leader, directing cross-functional teams to implement smart factory initiatives. Some of these initiatives include SCADA, Production Executing Systems (PES), Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Quality Management Systems (QMS), and Environment Health and Safety Management Systems (EHS). Nandan prioritizes Industry 4.0 principles to digitally transform the industry and enhance efficiency. This includes the implementation of emerging technologies like Unified Namespace, IIOT, Additive Manufacturing, Blockchain, and Ontology, as well as Large Language Model implementation.

Nandan’s digital journey began at TMBU University in India, where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering. He later pursued a Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Software Design and Development, followed by a Post Graduate Program in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning from the University of Texas at Austin.

Prior to his current role, Nandan served as the Senior Delivery Manager at Tech Mahindra Ltd., a multinational IT services company. During his tenure, he successfully introduced zero-touch automation for global oil and gas service companies, significantly improving operational efficiency. Nandan’s expertise led to the establishment of an Innovation Lab, showcasing the possibilities of digital transformation to internal teams. Through his contributions, he received the prestigious GURU award from Tech Mahindra, recognizing his key transformation initiatives within the Energy sector.

Nandan’s commitment to adopting new technologies and design practices resulted in an 18% increase in efficiency at the manufacturing company.

Following his time at Tech Mahindra, Nandan joined Blackstraw LLC as the Business Development Director. During his tenure, he implemented end-to-end machine learning (ML) pipelines, leading to a 20% increase through ML algorithm optimization. He oversaw a team of data scientists and engineers, developing predictive models for demand forecasting, behavior-based buying, customer churn prediction, and preventive and prescriptive maintenance.

Nandan continued his digital transformation journey at LTI Mindtree, serving as the Account Director. Here, he strategically built teams to effectively deliver solutions, including engagement managers, technical architects, and service delivery roles.

Currently, Nandan holds the position of Senior Manager at Panasonic Energy of North America. Through his expertise in digital transformation, he has successfully implemented Industry 4.0 policies within the manufacturing industry. Following ISA95 standards, Nandan utilizes artificial intelligence for asset maintenance, resulting in a remarkable 30% improvement in efficiency. He also applies process improvements to Manufacturing Execution Systems, leading to a 25% improvement rate in service level agreements (SLAs).

Known as an esteemed expert in digital transformation, Nandan combines his operations management skills with emerging technologies like AI and global quality standards. His expertise in artificial intelligence has greatly improved product quality, asset maintenance, and delivery commitments through statistical and financial modeling. Nandan is also dedicated to achieving global certifications such as ISO 27001, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001. He incorporates cutting-edge techniques such as Computer Vision, Federated Models, and Natural Language Processing (NLP) to enhance self-supervised learning in ML Models.

His proficiency in Industry 4.0 stems from his knowledge of platforms such as the hub and spoke model, Unified Namespace, and PLM. Through his rigorous process, which includes the use of Digital Transformation Maturing Assessment frameworks, Nandan has successfully completed multi-million dollar ROI projects. He assesses the state of legacy infrastructure, collaborates with his team of 15 members to implement Industry 4.0 policies, and conducts thorough quality assurance and security testing to ensure success.
