As a result, the USPS is now shipping free COVID-19 tests to households across the nation. The process of ordering these tests is quick and simple, taking only two minutes to complete.
President Joe Biden initiated the CovidTests.gov website in January 2022, where households could order four free rapid antigen COVID-19 tests to be shipped by the Postal Service. This service has expanded over time, with the latest round including four COVID-19 tests per order.
To order the free tests from the USPS, individuals can visit special.USPS.com/testkits or access the site through covidtests.gov. They are then required to enter their contact and shipping information and proceed to check out. All orders are shipped via First Class Package Service. Typically, the tests are delivered within one to three days of shipping and within seven to 12 days of placing the order. For those facing difficulties ordering online, they can also request tests by calling 800-232-0233.
It is important to note that the availability of these free COVID-19 tests may be limited, so it is advisable to order them as early as possible.
In addition to the USPS tests, there are other options for accessing free COVID-19 testing throughout the United States. HRSA Health Centers, funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration, offer free COVID-19 testing. The Test to Treat initiative, a federally funded healthcare program, provides COVID-19 testing and treatment. ICATT (Increasing Community Access to Testing) offers free testing specifically for uninsured patients exposed to COVID-19 or experiencing symptoms.
Furthermore, COVID-19 vaccines and booster shots are essential for protection against the virus. The Department of Health and Human Services ensures that COVID-19 vaccines are 100% free for everyone in the United States, including those without insurance. The Bridge Access Program, launched by the Department of Health and Human Services, guarantees free vaccines for uninsured individuals. These vaccines can be accessed through local health departments, HRSA centers, and over 20,000 retail pharmacy locations nationwide partnered with the CDC.
