Apple Reportedly Planning to Introduce New iPad Models Across Entire Lineup, Including Several with M3

Apple is set to revamp its entire lineup of iPad models in 2024, according to a claim from analyst Mark Gurman. In his Power On Newsletter via Bloomberg, Gurman announced that the new iPads and AirPods models are not yet ready for release this year but will be coming in 2024. The last update to the iPad lineup was in October 2022, with the focus on the iPad Pro and iPad Classic. The upcoming iPads will feature the M3 chip, which is expected to bring significant improvements to the devices.

Gurman’s claim is supported by information from MacRumors, which states that the last updates to each iPad model were in 2022 and 2021. The iPad Pro and iPad Classic were updated in October 2022, the iPad Air (5th generation) with the M1 chip was updated in March 2022, and the iPad Mini (6th generation) with the A15 Bionic chip was updated in September 2021.

The 2024 iPad lineup is expected to include the iPad Pro with 11-inch and 13-inch variants, featuring OLED displays and the powerful M3 chipset. The iPad Air (6th generation) is likely to receive the M2 chip, while the iPad Mini (7th generation) will be equipped with the A16 Bionic chip. However, there is no information available yet about the iPad Classic.

Similar to iPhones, Apple’s iPads are known for their system-on-chip (SoC) designs, with the A-series chips being the standard and the more high-end models featuring M-series chips. However, there was no iPad update in 2023, which was first speculated by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. The last update in late 2022 saw the iPad Classic and iPad Pro receiving the A14 Bionic and M2 chips, respectively.

Although Apple took a step back in iPad development in 2023, it is expected to make a major comeback in 2024 with next-generation upgrades. The iPad Pros are expected to feature the M3 chip, while other models may receive older M-series chips or new A-series chips.

Overall, the upcoming iPad revamp in 2024 promises to bring significant improvements and new features to Apple’s tablet lineup. Apple fans can look forward to the release of these updated devices next year.
