Garmin Expands ECG App Compatibility to Four Smartwatches in the US

(Photo: Garmin) Garmin, a leading player in wearable technology, has announced the expansion of its electrocardiogram (ECG) app to four more smartwatches. This development allows users in the US to utilize ECG readings for enhanced health monitoring.

Earlier this year, Garmin released its ECG app exclusively for Venu 2 Plus owners in the US. However, the company has now expanded the app’s compatibility to include the Epix Pro series, Fenix 7 Pro series, Venu 3 series, and Tactix 7 smartwatches, according to a report by GSM Arena.

The integration of the ECG app offers users the ability to perform ECG readings directly from their supported Garmin smartwatches. These readings provide valuable insights into heart rhythm, including potential irregularities like atrial fibrillation (AFib) and sinus rhythm.

Garmin ensures user-friendly access to ECG readings, allowing users to view records on their smartwatches, within the Garmin Connect smartphone app, or export them as PDF files.

To unlock this feature, users need to update their Garmin Connect app to the latest version and activate the ECG feature through the Settings menu.

Garmin takes pride in the accuracy of its ECG readings, comparing them to single-lead electrocardiogram devices, ensuring reliable data for critical health monitoring.

While currently accessible in the US, Garmin aims to extend the reach of its ECG app globally. Users in Hong Kong and Vietnam can also benefit from this health-monitoring feature, with further expansion potential in the future.

“The ECG app is now available to even more of our customers, including those with our flagship epix Pro and fēnix 7 Pro series smartwatches. We strive to offer premium health and wellness features across our smartwatch lineup, and this revolutionary tool only adds to the suite of innovative features to help our customers stay on top of their health,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin Vice President of Global Consumer Sales.

To use the ECG app on Garmin smartwatches, users can visit the Garmin support center for instructions and guidance.
