Six Flags Entertainment, one of the largest theme park operators in the US, is utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) in its latest marketing campaign for the 2023 Fright Fest. With the goal of creating relevance and connecting viewers and visitors with the fun and adrenaline rush associated with the brand, Six Flags partnered with horror movie franchises Saw X and The Conjuring to bring licensed themed attractions to its parks.

The new campaign taps into the fear of the Fright Fest experience and leverages AI in its ads. This creative direction aligns with Six Flags’ social media-heavy marketing strategy and aims to enhance the customer experience while staying relevant in the highly competitive media atmosphere.

“We wanted something that was aligned with our social media-heavy marketing strategy. As such, we asked the agency to design a campaign with those parameters, and they delivered an AI-inspired aesthetic that felt really cool for the channel but also brought to life in frightening accuracy the scary fun times people experience at Fright Fest,” says Edithann Ramey, Chief Marketing Officer of Six Flags.

AI is also being used by Six Flags to improve the customer experience and create a better relationship with its guests. The park has implemented AI-powered assets, such as face filters on social media platforms like TikTok, which has gained popularity and is currently in the top 5% of effect creators. By utilizing AI in a positive way, Six Flags aims to enhance creativity and explore new ways of doing things instead of displacing artists.
