As announced last year by Amazon, Prime Video is getting a whole load of ads, and while this may come as a shock to everyone, this is what the company has planned to do and claimed that by Monday, January 29, it will take effect. However, there is still a way to experience Prime Video streaming ad-free, but this will cost users an extra $2.99 for their monthly subscriptions.
This comes as Amazon did not mention anything about price hikes or changes, a completely different strategy to Netflix and other streaming platforms that ask for more.
Amazon Prime Video to Start Getting Ads Next Week
Amazon’s previously announced changes for Prime Video are coming next week, and on Monday, January 29, the e-commerce company will start rolling in ads for all streams on the platform. Like an ad-supported tier, Amazon Prime Video users will see ads play before they start a movie or go in between episodes on their streams, coming for all subscriptions.
This applies to the regular subscription where users enjoy an ad-free experience at $14.99 per month, with Amazon saying that it is directed to the platform’s growth.
However, Amazon did not release or announce an ad-supported tier per se, as it moves everyone to this new experience where a variety of ads will pop up before streaming.

No Price Hike but Ad-Free Charges $2.99 Extra
That being said, there is a way to keep your ad-free experience on Amazon Prime Video, and it is by paying a little extra to the company, with your monthly subscription getting additional charges. It will be $2.99 per month across its global subscription base, with the company avoiding to call it a price hike.
Users may now get the ad-free tier with the extra charge on Amazon’s website to avoid getting ad placements come Monday.
Amazon Prime Video and What it Offers
Amazon Prime Video is best known for its intuitive platform as well as the easy-to-use interface available, but more importantly, because of the range of content offered here. One of its top and ongoing Prime Originals, The Boys, is exclusively available to access here, best known for its raunchy comedy and superhero themes, also adapted into video games.
There is also an upcoming Prime Video original which is anticipated for this year, with the famed game from Bethesda Softworks now, Fallout, soon streaming on the platform.
Throughout the year, there were reports regarding Amazon’s plans to bring an ad-supported tier for Prime, following Netflix, Disney+, and more’s footsteps.
Amazon pushed through with its plans for the ad-supported tier, but in their take, it would apply to the regular subscription rates on the Prime Video platform starting this January 29. While there are no price hikes announced, users who want to get uninterrupted streaming will have a chance to do so by paying Amazon an extra $2.99 per month for global users.
