This collaboration aims to reassure buyers and sellers about the authenticity of luxury products in the flourishing resale market.

The cooperation between TikTok Shop and Real Authentication was announced in a joint release. Co-founder and seasoned authenticator Anastacia Black emphasized the importance of ensuring that buyers and retailers have confidence in the authenticity of merchandise, especially as the demand for resale luxury goods continues to rise.

Real Authentication’s website now offers a service for sellers who want to find new homes for their beloved handbags. Sellers can obtain a certificate of authenticity by availing of Real Authentication’s thorough analysis. Every aspect of the handbag is scrutinized, and the products are run through Real Authentication’s Smart Database Scan™ technology to cross-reference various data points for any red flags.

Once the authenticity certificate is approved, the seller can list the handbag on TikTok Shop. According to the co-founder of Real Authentication, Jenna Padilla, this partnership offers an important difference as items are validated before they are listed, making the marketplace safer than post-sale authentication services.

Meanwhile, a recent survey by ESW revealed that a significant percentage of U.S. consumers plan to buy holiday gifts on TikTok this season. Over 36% of customers are interested in purchasing gifts on TikTok, following the launch of TikTok’s shop in the U.S. The survey also found that e-commerce has become a popular choice, with 90% of consumers planning to buy presents online.
